Lambing Time at Pickwell

The birds are in full song, the bluebells are emerging, and the beautiful primroses are competing with the wild garlic for pride of place in the woods. It was warm enough for shorts and t-shirts today and after completion of all the winter works, Pickwell Manor is looking especially beautiful. The only thing that was missing … was you. How sad that we can’t share this gorgeous time of year with you.

We are glad though, that most of our guests who had booked holidays for the Easter period, have managed to find an alternative date with us in the future.

We also wanted to reach out to you and say that - as soon as we are all released from lock down - we are ready for you.

We are expecting the UK self-catering market to be especially busy at that time so if you have a date in mind, we would encourage you to get that firmed up with us. Of course, in the instance that there were further Government restrictions in place we will find an alternative date for you.

So please join the vast majority in staying safe, and also compliant with the advice we are all being given at this time, and we are ready to greet you with the warmest of welcomes as soon as we can.

With warm regards from all Pickwell Manor

Spring is here at Pickwell Manor

The sun is shining, the temperature is 14 degrees and the first bluebells are emerging in the woods. Simon and Julia moved down from Derbyshire to North Devon to manage Pickwell Manor just one year ago. They can confirm that the extra 350 hours of sunshine a year here really are good for the mind, body and soul. So, if circumstances are encouraging you to consider a holiday in the UK this year, let us assure you Devon has so much to offer. Our beaches are super clean and though they may be chillier than the Med, they offer some of the best surfing and body boarding in the country. The walking here is outstanding and the wildlife and nature abundant. In fact, our neighbour caught an otter on camera exploring his garden pond only last week. Click Here to watch (Of course, we are convinced this is a direct descendent of Tarka). The children will love searching the rock pools for seaside treasures and whatever the weather, Devon will keep them entertained or they can spend a happy hour or two in our well-equipped games room.

For your peace of mind - in addition to our normal cleaning regime –

we are disinfecting all appropriate areas within your holiday accommodation for each new guest. In addition, we are providing hand sanitisers in apartments and in all communal areas and disinfecting shared spaces.

We are almost full for Easter and the summer is getting busy so if you haven’t booked your holiday yet we would love to welcome you to Pickwell Manor and share the delights of Devon with you. It just seems wrong to keep it all to ourselves.

The Den, our new, amazing family tree house and luxury private hot tub will soon be completed and we hope to be taking bookings from May.

If you want further details on any of the above please phone Julia on 01271 890110 or e-mail julia@pickwellmanor.co.uk

Hot news for hot tub lovers

We are so excited about the launch of our new, family treehouse which will be available for booking from end of March 2020. With a luxury four-man hot tub provided in its own private terrace, it will be the perfect way to unwind after a day on the beach. In fact, all three of our treehouses are getting a private hot tub for the new season.

And if you are staying in one of our gorgeous apartments, we haven’t forgotten you. A large hot tub is being made available for you too. You can even book our Champagne package that will be chilled on arrival so you can unwind after your journey. Imagine lying under the stars with a glass of fizz and a soothing massage.

We had our busiest year ever at Pickwell Manor in 2019, so we wanted to make sure you get your favourite apartment and the dates of your choosing in 2020. And don’t forget your hairy friends (dogs that is) can now join you on your treehouse adventure, and more of our apartments are now dog friendly.

So, if it is our superb beaches -exceptional walking - great food for every taste and budget - or simply the thought of a blissful bubble massage and 5 star accommodation, there is so much to tempt you when you choose your holiday at Pickwell Manor.

November. Whats to like?

We can all be forgiven for flagging a bit in November. Stuck between Autumn and Christmas - few would claim it as their favourite month. But imagine being togged up warm, watching The Atlantic breakers crashing against the rocks at Barricane beach, or brisk walks along The Tarka trail and the cliff top walks of Baggy point.

Then returning to a cosy wood burner and your favourite book.

Or dine out at one of our two amazing village pubs with open fires, exceptional food, and beer and wine that would make a monk jealous.

If you are a large family or group looking to celebrate the New Year, or a couple looking to get away on a romantic retreat, we have accommodation to suit you and celebrate the season in style. Wow. What a week we have had.

We achieved the Gold Standard Green Tourism award, winner of The Reach, North Devon Corporate Social Responsibility award and  the highly commended Best Business Growth award, and all in one week.

This hopefully isn't just seen as 'award bagging', but that Simon and Julia - as new managers of Pickwell Manor - really wanting to publicly acknowledge the amazing investment in time, energy and money that the owners have made, to create the ethos here that we love so much.

Seaside staycation of the year.

Sustainable staycation of the year

Outstanding customer service of the year.

If you would like to stand with us and honour the amazing work that the owners Steve, Susie, Richard and Tracey have done over the last 11 years please consider nominating us, voting ends tonight, just click the link below -
